The phone call was anonymous. A girl was on the line asking us for money to help her obtain an abortion. I clearly explained our services. I told her we could help with the support she needed to give her child life. I offered her our medical services (which do not and won’t ever include abortion), and asked if she would like to come in and talk with a caring advocate.

    “No thanks,” she said. “I’m working with an agency that will pay for my travel expenses, the abortion, and everything except my food. I just thought maybe you had some funding that would cover that.”

     Again, I tried to reach out to this young woman, but with no success. Together with other staff and volunteers, we prayed that God would intervene.

     The following week, a woman stopped in. She had been crying. She was, in fact, one of those “grandmothers” who find out their daughter is pregnant, and that her grandchild is going to be aborted.

     “Can you help me? I don’t know what to do. I’ve talked and talked, but she won’t listen. My daughter is determined to go through with this. I had an abortion myself. I’d do anything to save her from the hell I experienced from that.”

     Again we prayed, and the next week the mother and her daughter came in for an appointment with our medical staff. During the ultrasound, the young woman kept her face turned away from the screen. She did not allow her mother in the room. Her mind was not changed, her heart was not turned. As mother and daughter left together we began to ask the Lord to spare the child’s life, and to spare this mother and grandmother abortion’s pain, as well.

     Months passed and we heard nothing. As far as our efforts to connect this client with her child were concerned, we had failed. But God had heard our prayers, and in His grace allowed us to find out the working of His hand.

     The grandmother came back to us. “I have a little granddaughter who is going to be adopted by a young couple from out of state. Would I be able to have one of your layettes to give the baby when I go up to the hospital?” she asked.

     Please continue to pray with us for the lives of the little ones. “Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
